Light imagery

Installation art by Gabriel Dawe. The inatallation is made out of gütermann thread, wood and nails attached at either end to blocks of wood, the effect is like a real-world version of computer generated imagery.

The patterns of light reflection and colour gradation is linked to my theme of oil slicks in water.  and the visual impact of this installation in beautiful.

Work by Artist Theo Altenburg. appeared on The Cool Hunter. inspirational towards my textile development of patterns of oil slicks in water adn light refraction.

The beauty of water

connection to my theme of Pearl Harbour and oil slicks in water. The textile development of my range is all developed from teh patterns of light adn shadows in water and the rainbows of colour and light that oil in water creates. this photograph is a good emaxple of this inspiration and also how my market is for womenswear adn towards the development of my own contemporary woman through my collection.

embelishment

Dani Seitz was the amazing model who wore my Sunsilk dress. she is incredibly beautiful and has the most amazinf presence which demands the attention of everyone around her. a real head turner.  i think she is just so beautiful and it would be very inspirational to use her in mind for my design collection as a muse.   Dani Seitz is Canadian, and is with Chadwick modeling agencey in Australia.

Bridal Couture, some past work,

in 2008 i made this wedding dress for my cousin Jennifer Davies,  i made the dress, and designed and hand embelished the entire dress. the embelishment was a combination of hand applique lace, beaded pearls and crystals to craete this beautiful textuer of embelishment across the bust as shown in the closeup in the photograph above.  the train of the dress also was covered in hand appliqued lace pieces and beaded with a variety of sizes of pearls, crystals and also rhindstones arount the hem.  i am very proud of this dress and all the work that went into it.  and the bride loved it!

This is a copy of the Newspaper article that the happy couple (and my dress) featured in.

Fashion in Supermarkets

In the latest issue of Vogue Australia (a favourite magazine fashion publication of mine, which I purchase religiously wach month) the June 2011 issue features this double spread featuring fashion in a supermarket setting, it is a promotional shoot for Coles, as they are relaunching their beauty ranges instore.  this is exactly what the Sunsilk competition was for! which is very exciting! this could mark the beginning of a new trend in fashion photography, in the everyday setting, the supermarket.  the Sunsilk competition i took part in was sponsored by Coles therefore this fashion spread, which is just one of 4 founf in the magazine for the month is very interesting.

design development. embelment on drapes.

these are photographs out of my design journal of my design development of application of textiles and embelishment to my collection.  the textiles have been placed for beadingoptions then resized and transperencey altered to create the idea of digital prints.  these are rough ideas.  my collection will be heavily textile based to create this contemporary evening collection.

design development. textile and embelishment development

design development. textile and embelishment development

these are a few examples of my textile development for my collection.  my main inspiration for this collection is oil slicks in water and the beautiful patterns thses create with reflecting the light and the rainbow of colours created, therefore these textiles have the basis of oil spills in their development creating radiating designs and gradation of colour.  I am going to have a combination of purely beading and hand embelishing these designs throughout my garments on a large scale to create a placement print/application of textiles.  or the other options is to generate digital prints and create place ment prints of the design onto key parts of a garment the combination of photographic imagery digitally printed alongside a garment of being actually beaded could be a great and contemporary contrast to have within the collection. these are just idea developments at this stage.

design development. illustration work.

Illustration work, developed from quick exercise to develop outfit designs in 30 seconds. this was an in class exercise in my research and conceptualisation design class.  I then layered up illustration and rendering techniques to portray the mood and feel of my collection.  these illustrations give a more conceptual look to my collection, these are not resolved designs but a chance to generate ideas.

I was brainstorming textile print options and testing line work designs with drawing ink when i developed this patter, which looked quite like a bodice/top so i decided to collage up my fabrics i a am thinking of using, and also embelishment options like sequins and zippers and beugal beads to create this top, its a great source of inspiration towarsd my design development and a more conceptual development of an idea but it demonstrates mood and the feel of my collection quite well.
